A new expansion tank and the next day new `O' rings to out the old one back in :!:

New tank had a flaw in neck moulding and was leaking like a sieve.

Subsequent 'phone call to CarParts4less Customer Services would have made a good Fawlty Towers or Victor Meldrew script but that would need a different thread :head:  :head:

a tad expensive but a great product, clears the screen perfect every time, i actually had 2 units installed, daisy chained together as the z3 pipe is quite long, the science is you loose approx 5 deg of heat for every foot travelled, although it was expensive i am very happy with this purchase, bugs are no problem. When Im feeling flushed with funds i might even get the winter run about kitted up too for those icy mornings :)

A new air conditioning belt tensioner pulley - after 126000 miles, about half of which have been with the air con in use, it was a reasonable life for 35 Euros.

Image

The old pulley bearing had no grease left, and was quite badly pitted, the cage being blue with heat! I suppose it had been rattling all the time for about 20,000 miles, but suddenly became a lot noisier, particularly when the air con was in use.

I bought the new pulley from our local BMW dealer - but here in France BMW parts are more expensive than in the UK.

I would guess that BMW parts in France are about 30% more expensive than in the UK - for example, a cat-back exhaust system for a 3 litre Z3 is about 750 Euros, whereas in the UK it cost about £450.

This is nothing to do with the Euro/Pound exchange rate, as VW parts are about 30% cheaper - I put it down to greed on the part of BMW France.

Naturally, I try to buy most things in the UK. France does not have a GSF equivalent, either.

MF says :- I would guess that BMW parts in France are about 30% more expensive than in the UK ........
Fortunately, you don't live in South Africa....here parts are subject to 100% import duty plus 14% VAT, plus dealer profit....= a 'kin rip-off... :head:
Often it's cheaper to import from the UK and pay shipping....the customs guys are mostly half asleep when it comes to "small parcels" and generally add on a thumb-suck of around £1.00 "duty".... :D

I found these 3 items being sold as a set on eBay...I figured they would be a heap more "OEM" than the VW golf lights I have fitted currently in the footwells...and the third unit will go into my boot to replace the crappy OEM one which blows a fuse in the fuse box everytime I take the carpet trim out for cleaning...All three for just £7.00. They are from an E36 sunvisor lamps...but certainly look the part for a Z3 footwell.... :D

New OEM bushings for the trailing arms (My current PolyU drives me nuts with the creaking), a new antenna, antenna base and grommets, to replace the hideous thing the PO mounted, a 3.0 clutch line to do a clutch valve delete on my M, M-decals for the wheels, thermostat and coolant hoses and a new bolt instead of the one I broke changing the tabs on the steering wheel.

A new water pump, new floor mats, and leatherZ:as leather tabs for the steering wheel is on it´s way across the ocean together with vanos kits from Beisan systems. I'm piling up for the darker times ahead!
