Car insurance

Post by Alan W »

Looking to get the car back on the road in a few weeks and have been doing the most boring and painstaking job in the world... looking for insurance.

It's a 1999 2.8 auto low mileage car est value £6000

For the quotes I have been giving 5000 miles usage per year, and the most competitive so far have been:

Classic Line £296

Heritage £315

Heritage also stated that if I drop to 3000 miles per year that they could reduce it to £239 but I don't know if that will be enough miles for me?

Anyone else got any suggestions / recommendations for companies?

Thanks in advance..

Try Footman James, they do a "modern classic" policy with agreed value.

They were the cheapest policy of this type for me, but it depends on many factors. Where you live, if it's garaged, your driving record....etc

I have mine on a multicar policy with my other cars, rather than a seperate policy. Works out good value on all the cars.

I have a multi car policy with Aviva, works out a lot cheaper, but before you ask for a quote, download the aviva driving app onto your phone, it measures your driving systle for 200 miles and then gives you a score which you record and register on the aviva website, when they quote they use this score, I scored 9.2 out of 10 and they reduced my premium by another £40, I now pay £344 a year for two cars.

I have just had my renewal come through from Esure. Once again no one else can come close to it.

1998 2.8, 4000 miles a year, fully comprehensive, SD&P, protected NCB, 14 years NCB, No points, Age 35. £149.41...I bit there hand off.

I have been with them for over 8 years and I know that after a few years with them you start to get a small loyalty discount but I was staggered with that price, I even rang to confirm it.
