I know I'm thick but....

Post by Bin »

Having browsed this site it is clear there are numerous very helpful posts by all and sundry to answer any question.

I have noticed that the abbreviation OEM crops up a lot. A new one on me, and I'm guessing that the O represent Original and the E equipment but being two planks short of a picnic I'm probably wrong.

In any event, thanks to all those members who take the time to share their knowledge and experience for the benefit of ignorami such as I!

You are right, OEM is original equipment manufacture

instead of writing all that,
you could have just typed 3 letters into google, which tells you the answer in the first paragraph....
or have you got a new keyboard you wanted to try out :D

I have an element of 'M-styling' on my car, If that's a good enough reason for the manufacturers to adorn a 320 with the M badge, then its certainly a good enough reason for me..

Yes, I could indeed have googled OEM but I prefer a little more human interaction - much more fun!

Depends if it starts to rain, John - and here it usually does, especially on Bank Holidays.....

For years l never knew what NOS meant, l could never come up with anything that fitted.

Back then l didn't have a computer so couldn't look online.

It stands for New Old Stock

For instance l needed a centre console trim panel for my Ferrari Mondial t. The car was twenty years old and the part was obsolete.
However a spares company in America still had two new ones, and those parts would be referred to as NOS.

They knew they had the last ones as well, that piece of plastic cost me £240!
