M wheels on a Z3 roadster

Hey.

I own a 1996 1.8 l Z3 roadster. I have fallen in love with the 17" wheels that came with the M roadster and M coupe. Will they fit my Z3? I know they are quite fat in the rear, but will they fit? I think the rears are 9" wide, but I am uncertain about their offset? Is there any chart on the web that lists the offset etc of the Z3 wheels?

They will go on, but the rears a different offset and will stick out too far as the back axle is shorter on an ///M.

If you get 4 front ///M wheels it will be OK.

Everybody is right, they will stick out - a bit like "Carlos Fandango", if you are old enough to remember that name you will know what i mean.

Ok, ok...

Bummer, I love those wheels with then fat lips...In Norway the upper part of the wheel/tire cannot extend beyond the fender curve.
Back to surfing the web for the ultimate wheel then I guess.

get the 4 front m wheels ,and put spacers on the rears ,,bringing them out a little

But you won't have the deep dish on the rears.

You can get some split rims, costly, but you can get the deep dished rear. Although the axle length may be your limit!

That car looks very convincing, but at the traffic lights.........................., it'd get beaten by small boys on bicycles, children in 'Little Tykes' scooters and old men in/on mobility scooters!

I was under the impression that the 4 cylinder cars had a narrower rear axle which was a similar width to an ///M? and it was only the 6 cylinder non-M models that had the wider rear axle?

I don't know if it's just me but quite honestly I don't like the look of M wheels and if I owned an M it would be one of the first changes I would make.
As for putting them on a non M, I really think there are far better looking wheels to choose from.

i think the original wheels are in keeping with the m,s retro look,and as soon as you change them,some wheels look kina boy racer,except the ac wheels,i know im sad but i always keep things as stock,as ive found when selling on a car,this may help,as the car will look non-messed about,im the same regarding any mods ,re,air filters,wheels,uprated this,uprated that,superchargers,etc etc etc,why dont people just build a kit car instead,my opinion only,

There is no other 17" wheel I would replace mine with, they look really nice IMO especially the deep dish rears emphasing the extra width at the back.

I've seen a couple of Coupes with 18" CSL style wheels and while they look nice and different the standard rims still do have a good look to them.

Are z3m wheels on a 2.8 really that bad?

They look good in the "front 3/4" view, but from behind they do sit out a little from the arch which spoils it. However if you're car is very low, the extra negative camber might mean the top of the wheel sits "inside" the arch.
