Bond, Romans and Pilgrims

This was going to be a cruise over the roads driven in Ian Fleming's Bond books, but it got diverted somewhat down the country lanes along the Pilgrims Way and along Roman roads, including the eight-mile straight of Stone Street.

Our first stop was in 'The Square' at Chilham...

... where Spokey's Z1 attracts attention. Is it a bird? Is it a plane?

Stopped at Farthing Common at the bottom of Stone Street...

...to admire the view? Or chat about cars?

We stopped for lunch at Ian Fleming's favourite pub, 'The Duck' at Petts Bottom. On the wall outside is a blue plaque confirming it was where Fleming wrote "You only live twice."

Laid up waiting for another lost section

Altogether there were 19 cars--one Z1, eight Z3s, four Z4s, two M Coupés, three M Roadsters, and a 3 Series.

We finished at the seaside at the Roman fort of Reculver with many red faces (due to the sun).

Thanks to TonyCal for helping dry run the route and leading on the day.
